WASHINGTON -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recalls Tuesday for two potentially dangerous products.
Newport Rubbed Black 4-in-1 Cribs And Matching Furniture
About 3,000 cribs and 6,000 matching furniture pieces have been recalled because of high levels of lead in the paint.
New Jersey-based Munire Furniture, Inc., has pulled the Newport Rubbed Black 4-in-1 Cribs and Matching Furniture, after one child was diagnosed with lead poisoning.
The sets were sold at specialty furniture stores from April 2006 through November 2008 for about $600 for the crib, and $700 to $1,000 for the matching furniture.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said if you have the crib or furniture, stop using them immediately, and contact Munire Furniture at (866) 586-9639 to receive a replacement coupon entitled to a free exchange for another product.
Munire Furniture's hotline is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Calpyso Steel Drums
Nearly 3,000 toy steel drums were recalled by New York-based Woodstock Percussion, Inc., also because of high contents of lead.
No one has been reported hurt or poisoned by the drums, but the high levels of lead in the product violate federal lead paint standards.
If you have the steel drum set, the CPSC advises you to take it away from children and return it to Woodstock Percussion for a replacement drum and a $5 credit or payment.
