Cold Night Declared By Homeless Coalition
Tuesday, December 02, 2008 4:42:24 PM
ORLANDO -- Temperatures are expected to plummet Tuesday night, prompting the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida to declare a "cold night."
The coalition issues the declaration any time the temperature is expected to dip into the 40s, and means no one will be turned away from shelters.
Officials with the coalition said in the tough economic times, some people literally cannot afford heat. So on days when the temperature drops below 40 degrees, the coalition invites anyone to come in for free.
Officials said the Coalition's Pavilion can hold up to 375 men and the Center for Women and Families can accommodate more than 240 men, women and children.
The Coalition for the Homeless is located 639 W. Central Blvd., in Orlando.
For more information on finding shelter or how you can volunteer, call (407) 426-1250, or visit CentralFloridaHomeless.org.
