SANFORD -- A bicyclist is dead after being hit by an 18-wheeler.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Airport Boulevard.

A 55-year-old man was riding his bike across the street when he was reportedly hit by a tanker carrying jet fuel.

The man was killed instantly.

Witnesses told authorities the 18-wheeler had the right of way.

So far, no charges have been filed.

The bicyclist’s name has not yet been released.
