Fire Kills Child's Dog, Destroys Home, Gifts
Sunday, December 14, 2008 11:25:38 PM
SATELLITE BEACH -- Fire destroyed a Brevard family's home just two weeks before Christmas.
Now, the American Red Cross is hoping a local business or donor steps forward to save a 6-year-old’s Christmas.
A heater fire possibly tore through Larry Bucholz's Satellite Beach home Saturday. It killed his son's dog and destroyed all of the 6-year-old’s toys and Christmas presents.
The Red Cross has stepped in to provide a few days hotel stay and money for clothing. However, the agency doesn't have the funds to help out with Christmas presents. Bucholz said he hasn't told his son what happened yet.
"I'm going to have to sit down and tell him that Santa's going to find him still and we'll be OK. He's been a good boy," said Bucholz.
Anyone interested in making donations should contact the Space Coast Red Cross.
