Additional Information

ORLANDO -- Orange County sheriff's investigators returned to the scene where skeletal remains of what appeared to be a small child were found Thursday near the home of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony's grandparents.

As investigators sifted through the scene where a child's remains were found, Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez made a surprise visit to the Anthony home and the crime scene.

Baez said he wants to have access and be allowed to receive information that will help bring out the truth in the case.

Baez also said this week's recent developments are taking a toll on Casey Anthony

Baez, his spokesperson and other members of the defense said at this point they still believe Caylee Anthony is alive.

Investigators with the county and the FBI are busy sifting through the surrounding area, searching for any more evidence that would help them determine if the remains are, indeed, of Caylee.

In a statement Saturday, the medical examiner inspecting the remains, themselves, said, "The medical examiner's office may utilize the services of consultants or other agencies -- in this case, the FBI -- but maintains control and jurisdiction in the case at all times. Because these remains are the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation, and in consideration of the deceased's family, preliminary reports will not be released."

Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said Friday he thinks it is a good possibility the remains could be Caylee's.

The defense team for Casey Anthony, the toddler's mother charged with murdering her daughter, said Beary told them the remains' general measurements and hair color matched those of Caylee. See Previous Story.

Defense Motion Denied

An emergency motion filed by Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, was denied Friday. The motion would have allowed the defense team's forensic experts to be present during the autopsy of the remains.

Baez said he wants to make sure all the testing is done correctly, arguing his team should be able to observe.

Judge Stan Strickland, however, agreed with prosecutors, who argued there is no provision of a rule permitting that type of attendance, and that until the body is determined to be that of Caylee Anthony, the defense has no standing.

It is suspected the remains are Caylee's, and Friday's hearing showed investigators strongly believe that they have found the missing girl.

Kid Finders Cancel Search

The group that was helping the Anthony family look for Caylee announced Friday it is suspending its search.

The Kid Finders Network, which has been involved in the case for months, said while it will no longer actively be searching for the girl, but they are not giving up on the case yet, and will continue to update its Web site on the case, HelpFindCaylee.com.

It is not known if the Anthony family and the Kid Finders Network will keep up their headquarters, which most recently has been along Goldenrod Road, near Colonial Drive, in Orlando.

911 Call Released

The emergency call made by the utility worker who found the remains Thursday was released the following day.

The following is an excerpt of the exchange between the worker's dispatchers and the 911 operator.

Dispatcher: We found a human skull.

911 Operator: Oh, my gosh.

Dispatcher: We've got a meter reader. I'm going to let you speak right now with the representative with our field services.

Dispatcher: A skull that he believes is human.

911 Operator: What's the location?

Utility Dispatcher: It's right off Suburban and Chickasaw, in the Caylee Anthony area.

"Oh," the operator reacted, sounding concerned.

The utility worker had gone into the woods to relieve himself around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when he made the discovery.

Investigators said floods in the area during previous efforts prevented searchers from finding the remains earlier.

Caylee's Grandparents Return Home

George and Cindy Anthony returned home late Friday afternoon for the first time since the remains were discovered about one-quarter mile away from the home.

Caylee's grandparents were escorted inside by two men who appeared to be guards at around 3 p.m. Friday. They left at 5:45 p.m., and were taken away by the same men.

Cindy Anthony, with a tense expression on her face and carrying a small dog, had nothing to say to the media.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, a group of people pulled up to the home and planted a memorial to Caylee, made up of a white cross covered with a T-shirt containing a photo of Caylee and the letters "R.I.P."

Casey Under Observation

Through all of this, Casey Anthony remains locked up without bond.

She reportedly got so upset at hearing the news Thursday, that she had to have a sedative.

Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, visited her Thursday night. Baez said she met with a psychologist, and was placed on psychological observation, but is not on a suicide watch.

Why Was This Missed?

Texas EquuSearch, one of the recovery groups who have come to Central Florida to help find Caylee, said it did try to search the area where the remains were found when it first arrived over the summer, but could not, because the area was flooded after rains from Tropical Storm Fay.

When the group returned in November, the site was fenced off.

One EquuSearch volunteer told the Orlando Sentinel she searched the area several times, but added it was very wet and steep, and the area is full of snakes.

Beary said the area was known to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

"This area was a flooded area during the earlier searches, and right now, we're trying to put it all together," Beary said. "We've been in contact with the FBI. Their lab is ready to receive whatever Dr. G [Dr. Jan Garavaglia, district medical examiner] determines necessary to try and get some analysis on it."

Neighbors who live nearby said the scene where the remains were found is a pretty secluded wooded area, where Casey had been known to party with friends.
