ORLANDO -- The remains of Caylee Marie Anthony were discovered Dec. 11, 2008 by a worker for the Orange County Water Department. News 13 is following this story closely with constant updates.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

8:58 a.m. - Orange County deputies release new documents in case against Casey.


Friday, Feb. 6

4:35 p.m. - "... Those people that aren't invited probably know they're not invited, and I would hope they have the sense not to show up and create a scene," Conway said.

4:33 p.m. - "She's innocent until proven guilty," Conway said. He believes church will be filled to capacity on Tuesday.

4:30 p.m. - The Anthonys communicate with Casey through Baez, Conway said.

4:29 p.m. - The family hasn't visited Casey because every time they do, it's posted on the Internet and in the media.

4:28 p.m. - The bracelet that was put into Casey's clothes was placed there by the family, not knowing it was against the jail's policy. They wanted to know they love her and support her.

4:26 p.m. - Conway says it's good that a motion has been filed to have the civil lawsuit thrown out.

4:24 p.m. - Conway says George Anthony is doing a lot better and said Anthony wants to thank everybody who sent cards, prayers, and shown their compassion for him and his family.

4:23 p.m. - Conway doesn't know if Casey will watch the service on television. State and defense are done with their examinations of Caylee's remains.

4:22 p.m. - Conway believes the public service will be the start of closure for the Anthonys.

4:21 p.m. - Conway says George and Cindy Anthony will be in attendance at the service.

4:20 p.m. - Caylee's remains will not be at the service. They are safe and sound at the funeral home, Conway said. A private memorial has not yet been discussed.

4:19 p.m. - Heavy security presence is so there are no disruptions.

4:18 p.m. - Conway says they think they will have to change the times the doors will open at the church. "I don't want anybody disturbing this little girl's service. That's the most important thing that I've got to emphasize. She deserves dignity and respect, and she's gonna get it," he said. 

4:15 p.m. - Brad Conway holds press conference in front of the Orange County Courthouse regarding the public memorial service for Caylee.

Friday, Jan. 30

6:47 p.m. - First Baptist Orlando announces it will host a public memorial service for Caylee Marie Anthony.

4:00 p.m. - Late Friday afternoon, Judge Stan Strickland denied Casey Anthony's attorney's request to subpoena the records of Texas EquuSearch.

9:10 a.m. - Court hearing concludes.

9:09 a.m. - Brad Conway, the lawyer for George and Cindy Anthony asks to be heard. He said his clients wanted to be in court this morning but the events of the last two weeks prevented them. Conway said they were asking the court to expedite its decision on the Texas EquuSearch motion and on releasing discovery out of compassion for their daughter and for them. He said they waive any conflict of interest for Mark NeJame who first worked for them before becoming the lawyer for Texas EquuSearch.

9:08 a.m. - Judge says he is looking to the defense and prosecution in determining when to set a trial date. Next trial date status not set.

9:07 a.m. - Judge said he would set a hearing on a change of venue when it is determined when the trial date will begin.

9:06 a.m. - Baez says he still has a lot of discovery to go through. Prosecution says they don't think they will be ready for trial until later in the year.

9:04 a.m. - Judge addresses setting a trial date.

9:02 a.m. - Judge says this is a Florida Bar matter. He denied the motion to recuse the prosecutors.

9:01 a.m. - State of Florida says defense has not proved prejudice against Casey Anthony on the part of the prosecutors and have not proven they have violated her 6th Amendment right to counsel.

9:00 a.m. - State of Florida says they filed a motion to deny defense's emergency motion to remove prosecutors because they violated her 6th Amendment rights.

8:52 a.m. - Judge hears motion from defense attorney Linda Baden to remove prosecutors from the case.

8:48 a.m. - Judge hears motion to strike State of Florida's motion to strike defense witness list. State of Florida says it has been settled and motion is moot.

8:47 a.m. - NeJame says Baez was inappropriate for contacting Texas EquuSearch for records directly instead of going through the organization's lawyer.

8:44 a.m. - Judge says he will make a ruling by the end of the day Friday. Said if he rules against Nejame, he can refile without prejudice.

8:43 a.m. - Judge takes the request for Texas EquuSearch's files under advisement. Will make ruling when he gets more information.

8:40 a.m. - Mark NeJame, lawyer for Texas EquuSearch, requests the judge reject defense's request for records from Texas Equusearch regarding the search for Caylee.

8:37 a.m. - Judge grants defense's motion to inspect property where Caylee's body was found, even though property owner's mother told Baez he could not enter the property.


Friday, Jan. 23

3:30 p.m.
Padilla says he doesn't think the incident with George will change the investigation. "These are two separate issues," Padilla said.

3:27 p.m.
Padilla said the sheriff's office appreciated Conway contacting them.

3:26 p.m.
Deputy Carlos Padilla from the Orange County Sheriff's Office said they employed all the resources to find George.

3:24 p.m.
Conway said he assumes George consumed some alcohol and pills based on what he was told by law enforcement.

3:23 p.m.
Conway said he was told a proper burial for Caylee may be in February. "It's time that this little girl be buried," Conway said.

3:21 p.m.
".... After last night, it's easy to assume that there will be intense supervision of George and Cindy. I will be doing that, as well as all the people that care about them." Conway said.

3:18 p.m.
Cindy is doing well because she knows her husband is OK.

3:16 p.m.
Police Baker Acted George, according to Conway. The status of it is unknown. "Casey Anthony is presumed innocent," Conway said.

3:15 p.m.
Conway said the text messages gave them great concern, and they did indicate George was dispondent and depressed, and was not in a good place. The missing pictures were those of Cindy, Casey and Caylee.

3:14 p.m.
George was last seen at the house around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

3:13 p.m.
Cindy has spoken with George.

3:12 p.m.
George is well and resting.

3:11 p.m.
George did not return text messages or phone calls. When it was discovered that photos and medications were missing from the Anthony home, the decision was made to call Sgt. Allen.

3:10 p.m.
"From last night, George has been pushed to the brink of what would might have been another tragedy in this case, and but for the efforts of the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Daytona Beach Police Department, as well as the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, this would be a different conversation," Conway said.

3:08 p.m.
Conway said the Anthonys have been criticized and accused of trying to profit from a public memorial, and it is absolutely untrue. He said he's not going to put up with these allegations against his clients. "They are not profiting in any way. They have not profited in any way, and I am tired of innuendos, rumors and speculation about not only profiteering, which they have not done, but wrongdoing, which they also have not done. My clients have committed no crimes. They have not interfered with the investigation. In fact, they have helped it," Conway said.

Conway said Sgt. John Allen came over to the Anthony home at 11 p.m. Thursday. He thanked Sgt. Allen of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the Daytona Beach Police Department, specifically Chief Mike Chitwood for their professionalism and effort.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office releases the missing person report and dispatch call report on George Anthony's disappearance, as well as the 911 call made by attorney Brad Conway.

9:20 a.m.
Orange County Corrections reports Casey Anthony has been told about the situation with her father Friday morning by Corrections Health Services.

8:05 a.m.
Halifax spokeswoman Salina Wang said George Anthony is being stabilized in the emergency room in preparation for sending him to a room for medical observation.

7:41 a.m.
The corrections jail staff has been informed of George Anthony's status. Casey Anthony is not under any special supervision.

Anthony family investigator Dominic Casey left the Anthony home in Orlando.

7:39 a.m.
A Halifax Hospital spokeswoman said in addition to the psychological observation, George Anthony is also facing medical issues, but because of privacy laws she could not be specific. He is in stable condition. She told News 13 that no family members have been at the hospital to visit George, countering an earlier report that his son, Lee Anthony, was there.

7 a.m.
Anthony family attorney thanked Daytona Beach police for acting so quickly.

7 a.m.
Orange County Jail public information officer Allen Moore would not confirm whether or not Casey Anthony knows about the developments concerning her father, but noted that the TV in her housing unit usually is not on.

6:38 a.m.
Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood said George Anthony was examined at Halifax Medical Center and was admitted. He could be held for up to 72 hours under the Baker Act.

5:39 a.m.
Two vehicles arrived at the Anthony home. One was the vehicle George Anthony drove to Daytona Beach.

5:19 a.m.
A release from the Daytona Beach Police Department says George Anthony had been texting family members saying he doesn't want to live anymore. A ping off his phone led them to the Bethune Point area. A description of Anthony's vehicle was released and it was located at the Hawaii Motel.

5:10 a.m.
Anthony family attorney Brad Conway said Cindy Anthony is "good," and that she is relieved her husband is alive. When he asked how George Anthony is, he only said, "Bottom line: George is OK."

5:09 a.m.
Chitwood said a note was found in the room with Anthony. He would not elaborate on what the note said, but that it had been sent to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

5:08 a.m.
Chitwood said Anthony could be held at the hospital anywhere from 1 to 3 days.

5:07 a.m.
Chitwood said George Anthony was despondent when they found him at the motel. Around 2:30 a.m. they convinced him to get into the chief's car and be taken to the hospital.

Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood said Lee Anthony is with his father at the hospital, but media has not observed him at the facility.

Thursday, Jan. 8

4 p.m.
Judge Strickland rules Baez can set up a secure database. Baez was told the photos cannot leave his office until he can prove that he does have a secure Web site. He cannot make copies of the photos.  Also, the defense can obtain the unedited phone calls from meter reader Roy Kronk. 

2:55 p.m.
Casey Anthony walks into the courtroom.

The hearing is back in session. Judge Strickland decided to continue with the proceedings although Casey Anthony is not present.  Strickland said Anthony is on the way to the courtroom to formally waive her right to be present at the hearing.

1:46 p.m.

Leesburg's Don Williams said he would add Caylee Anthony's name to the Waterfall of Tears, a concrete brick wall he built as a memorial to murdered to children. He said he would invite Caylee's grandparents to write her name on the wall.


Wednesday, Dec. 24

5 p.m.
Anonymous person donates 125 gift wrap toys from Bloomingdales at the Caylee memorial site. The Orlando Union Rescue Mission will give the toys to the 84 children in the organization's custody.


Tuesday, Dec. 23

4 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff's Office releases PDFs and 911 calls of the tips the meter reader called in on Aug. 11, 12 and 13.

12:04 p.m.
News 13 has learned Leonard Padilla has cancelled a memorial he planned for Caylee Anthony at J. Blanchard Park since her remains were found. 

11:41 a.m.
Conway says dates and times for Caylee Anthony's funeral and memorial have not been selected because Casey Anthony's defense team will have a second autopsy done on the remains. 

11:01 a.m.
Jose Baez filed a motion Monday requesting pictures, X-rays and other documentation of the remains of Caylee Anthony when they were originally found and during the autopsy.  A judge rules the documents must be turned over to Jose Baez within two weeks. 

9:45 a.m.
Brad Conway says George and Cindy Anthony will hold a public memorial for their granddaughter Caylee.  A time and place has not been announced.  The family will hold a private funeral.


Sunday, Dec. 21

3:42 p.m.
Conway says the family is aware that some are profiteering off of the search for Caylee.  He says the family may take legal action.

3:38 p.m.
Conway said OCSO removed shoes, clothes and other items from the Anthony home during the search on Saturday.

3:30 p.m.
Family has not decided when and where the memorial for Caylee will be, but it will be a private memorial.

3:29 p.m.
Conway says Anthonys were at church this morning and will attend this evening as well.

3:28 p.m.
Conway says all money donated for the search for Caylee will be given to the search for other missing children.

3:25 p.m.
Conway says toys left in Caylee's memory will be donated Sunday evening, possibly to Orlando Union Rescue Mission.  Anyone who has made a donation and does not agree with the family to have it donated could come pick it up. Conway says Caylee was a kind and sharing toddler and she would have wanted to share her toys.  Cards, candles, letters and balloons will remain with the family.

Saturday, Dec. 20

5:00 p.m.
News 13 has learned George and Cindy Anthony have decided to take all the toys left in memory of Caylee Anthony and donate them to underprivileged children for the holidays.

3:10 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff's office obtain a search warrant for the Anthony home.  Four crime scene investigation vans were at the house.  Investigators have not said what they are looking for.  They did say evidence found at the crime scene has led them back to the family home. George and Cindy Anthony were home and were allowed to remain present.

3:00 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff's office officially released the crime scene location where the remains of Caylee Anthony were found.

11:30 a.m.
Investigators tried to release the crime scene to Jose Baez and the rest of Casey Anthony's defense team, but they declined.  The scene can now be accessed to the general public.


Friday, Dec. 19

5:41 p.m.
Anthony family lawyer, Brad Conway, said in a press conference the family was notified by the Orange County Sheriff's Office around 1:30 p.m.  The Anthonys thanked people for their prayers and well-wishes, and asked that people continue their prayers for Caylee. The family said they will be available to law enforcement as the investigation continues.

Thursday, Dec. 18

4:52 p.m.:  According to Capt. Angelo Nieves from Orange County Sheriff's Office, deputies are once again expanding their search area near the Anthony home. "Significant" skeletal remains were found Thursday. The sheriff's office also announced they were releasing photos of the crime scene. Nieves also said the utility worker who found the remains on Dec. 11 called in the same tip on Aug. 11, 12 and 13.

2 p.m.: News 13 learns when an identification of the bones are made, if they belong to Caylee, the first person who will be notified will be her mother, Casey Anthony.

12:05 p.m.: News 13 has learned that the owner of the property being searched is Thomas Hendricks, who has a post office box in Winter Park, but may not live in Florida. He is listed as the owner of 25 pieces of land in Orange County, Florda alone. Records show he owns land in a number of states. So far, he has remained silent about the search on his land.

9 a.m.: The Sheriff's Office continues its expanded search of the site where skeletal remains of a child were found.


Wednesday, Dec. 17

5:06 p.m.: News 13 learns that many of the defense experts are being paid out of a fund made up of contributions from unidentified donors.

4:04 p.m.: Cable network reports say that the DNA results could come at any minute today. However, News 13 called the Orange County Sheriff's Office and was told that no results would be released Wednesday.  

1:00 p.m.
Assistant State Attorney visits crime scene.  Investigators said they found additional evidence Wednesday morning at the crime scene.

12:00 p.m.
Onlookers are starting to gather at the search site. Officials said the search would continue to work through at least Thursday.

7:00 a.m.
Investigators return to the crime scene to search for more clues in the area.


Tuesday, Dec. 16

5:27 p.m.
Capt. Angelo Nieves said during the hearing Tuesday, a member of the legal team misstated the skull was that of a little girl. At this point, Nieves said they still do not have definitive identification, nor a gender, of the skull or remains that were found.

2:25 p.m.
Judge Stan Strickland denies the defense's request for photos, drawings and videos from the discovery site. He also says the request for a second autopsy is moot because the first autopsy has not yet been complete.

2:20 p.m.
A representative of medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia (Dr. G), said concern over loss of evidence during the autopsy was unfounded because only about three inches of bone would be lost in the maceration process due to toxicology testing.

2:15 p.m.
Defense attorney Jose Baez asks for all photos connected to the search of an area where a child's bones were found to be released to them. The prosecution said it was concerned that any release of photos before it is "appropriate" could compromise their investigation and that they are concerned gory photos of the skull and other items could find their way out to the media.

10:00 a.m.
An emergency hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the case against Casey Anthony after her defense team files new motions calling for the prosecution to turn over photos, video and drawings taken at the scene where the remains were found. Read More


Monday, Dec. 15

5:20 p.m.
Capt. Angelo Nieves, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, says they have made more significant finds during Monday's search of the area where the remains were found, but he could not release specifics on that evidence. He also said that they are using experts from the University of Central Florida, an anthropologist, an entomologist and a botanist to examine the scene.


12:25 p.m.

In the statement, George and Cindy Anthony say if the remains are Caylee's, the babysitter Casey Anthony says she left Caylee with may have played a role in her death.


9:26 a.m.
The Orlando Sentinel reports more bones were discovered over the weekend in the area where the remains were found. The Orange County Sheriff's Office would not confirm the report.


Sunday, Dec. 14

7:35 p.m.
Michelle Bart announces she will no longer be the primary spokeswoman for George and Cindy Anthony, citing medical reasons. Bradley A. Conway, George and Cindy Anthony's new attorney, will now take on the role of spokesman.


5:05 p.m.
The weekly vigil for Caylee Anthony at Eastside Baptist Church is cancelled. Kid Finders and Anthony spokeswoman Michelle Bart says she will be at the church at 7:30 p.m. to make a statement. Bart says she will not be there on behalf of the family.


4:00 p.m.
Conway tells media the Anthony family will not make any comment until the remains are identified.


3:00 p.m.
George and Cindy Anthony return to their home on Hopespring Drive.


2:30 p.m.
Bounty hunter Leonard Padilla visits the crime scene. Padilla says he believes this is the body of Caylee Anthony.

Investigators return to the crime scene for Day 4 of searching for more clues in the area.


Saturday, Dec. 13

Michelle Bart, spokeswoman for the Anthonys, says the family is suspicious of the circumstances leading to the findings, saying the area where the remains were found has been searched multiple times.


5:30 p.m.
Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, and his defense team make a surprise visit to the Anthony home and the crime scene with forensics expert Dr. Henry Lee. Baez says many items were removed from the home. Lee says that is not usual for a crime scene investigation.


11:03 a.m.

News 13 reports Michelle Bart has advised the Anthonys to avoid the media and other onlookers, and remain in their hotel for now.


7:00 a.m.

Orange County sheriff's investigators, along with the FBI, return to to the scene where the remains were found to continue sifting through the area for any more evidence.


Friday, Dec. 12

10:00 p.m.
A group of people put up a memorial to Caylee Anthony in front of her grandparents' home. The memorial is made of a white cross covered by a T-shirt with Caylee's picture and the letters R.I.P.


5:45 p.m.

The Anthonys leave their home with a number of bags and their dogs, escorted by two men who appear to be guards. They said nothing to the media.


4:00 p.m.

Defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden says Sheriff Kevin Beary called Jose Baez and told him the anthropological measurements and hair color of the remains found match that of Caylee Anthony. The defense team says the motion should apply to tentative identification as well.

Prosecutors ask the judge that even if remains are linked to Caylee Anthony, the defense should not have a right to attend testing of any evidence.

Prosecutors say the defense does not have standing to make this motion, since the remains have not yet been identified.

Kenney Baden's team says it wants to be the first to see the evidence from the crime scene after the state.

Baez, Kenney Baden and the rest of the defense team wants world-renowned anthropologists and a medical examiner to observe the autopsy for the defense team.

7:01 a.m.

Investigators return to scene where skeletal remains were discovered.

8:31 p.m.
Sheriff's investigators show up at the Anthony home to serve a search warrant. They brought in brown bags and boxes.


6:08 p.m.

A search warrant is signed for investigators to go into the Anthony home.


6:03 p.m.

Deputies call off the search at the scene for the evening. The Sheriff's Office plan to remain out at the site overnight. They say the utility worker went into the woods to relieve himself when he found the bag. He opened the bag, noticed the bones and called police. The Sheriff's Office clarified the bag was found only 20 to 30 feet into the woods. Sheriff Beary told reporters earlier in the afternoon it was found 50 to 60 feet.


5:46 p.m.

Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, says the area where the child's remains were found was under water when they tried to search in September. They suspended the search, because they were afraid they would push any possible remains down into the mud, or destroy them. "The smartest move I ever made was to stop the search the first time," Miller said.


5:01 p.m.

Texas EquuSearch arrives on the scene where the remains were found. Also, Baez's spokesman, Todd Black, says Baez would not be making a statement until the medical examiner releases her findings.


4:58 p.m.

Beary tells News 13 the Sheriff's Office is going to let the ground around the alleged crime scene dry overnight, and start searching for evidence again on Friday morning.


4:25 p.m.

Baez files a motion to preserve and inspect evidence and forensics in Thursday's discovery. It will be heard Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. Read the Motion.


4:20 p.m.

The Anthonys arrive at Orlando International Airport from a trip to California to appear on CNN's "Larry King Live."


4:10 p.m.

Beary tells the media, "I want no craziness at the Anthony house."


4:05 p.m.

Mark NeJame, former attorney for George and Cindy Anthony, tells News 13 he has spoken with lead detective John Allen, and with the FBI. He said Allen told him the Anthonys were called about the remains before they left California so they would not find out from the media.

NeJame also says part of the reason he resigned as the Anthonys lawyer was because they were in denial about their daughter's involvement in Caylee's disappearance, and that he could not endorse them saying Casey was innocent. "I resigned a few weeks ago, because I could not support, in any way, shape or form, Casey."

"I've been expecting this day for a while, and although it is a very, very sad day, I think in many ways, we can now really pass on our full blessings to this child, and allow her to go in the peace that she deserves, and allowing her mother to be prosecuted as she deserves," NeJame said.


3:50 p.m.

Sheriff Beary is trying to get a warrant to search the Anthony home. The remains have been removed from the discovery scene.


3:30 p.m.

Beary says Sheriff's Office is seeking a search warrant for the Anthony's home, saying Anthonys are being cooperative, and warns he does not want "craziness" at the Anthony home. The home has been secured as a possible crime scene.


2:07 p.m.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the body was found approximately 50 to 60 feet into the woods. Sheriff Beary says the State Attorney's Office has asked them not to release any information about the evidence found.


1:44 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office closes the intersection of Suburban Drive and Hopespring Drive, preventing parents from picking up their children at Hidden Oaks Elementary School.


1:38 p.m.

Beary tells the media the FBI at Quantico, Va., is awaiting any remains that Orange County forensics wants examined. He says the discovery has been made a priority, and they would work through the weekend if necessary.


1:25 p.m.

Beary speaks to media, saying investigators will be on the scene for a long time -- all night, if necessary.


1:10 p.m.

Sheriff Kevin Beary arrives on scene. News 13 learns the utility worker who found the remains works for the Orange County Water Department.


1:05 p.m.

Investigators say they will be on the scene for an extensive period of time.


12:51 p.m.

CNN tells News 13 George and Cindy Anthony will be arriving at Orlando International Airport around 4:25 p.m.


12:47 p.m.

Cold rain makes the search for evidence difficult. The remains have not yet been removed. News 13 talks to a number of people involved in Texas EquuSearch's efforts to find Caylee. One man says he had been searching a very short distance away from where the remains were found. He also said while they were looking for the girl, there was a feeling among the group that there was something eerie about the area they were searching.


12:37 p.m.

Mobile command unit arrives on the scene of the discovery.


12:27 p.m.

News 13 reports that about 12:05 p.m., a woman drove up to the Anthony home and rushed inside. She was followed shortly by a sheriff's deputy, who knocked on the door and asked the woman to leave. The woman is later revealed to be the girlfriend of Lee Anthony, Casey's sister, who was house-sitting while George and Cindy Anthony were in California.


12:10 p.m.

Medical examiner arrives on the scene where the remains were found.


12:06 p.m.

The Anthonys say through a representative that the area where the remains were found had already been searched. Texas EquuSearch says when they tried to search this area in September, it was under water. When they returned in November, the area had been roped off.


11:49 a.m.

George and Cindy Anthony say Caylee is still alive.


11:48 a.m.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Angelo Nieves says the Anthonys have been notified.


11:46 a.m.

FBI lab will examine the remains.


11:40 a.m.

Anthony spokeswoman Michelle Bart says she is flying to Orlando this afternoon.


11:35 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office establish a media center at a church near intersection of crime scene.


11:30: a.m.

A Sheriff's Office representative says they do not know if body is Caylee Anthony.


11:18 a.m.

Bart says they have not been notified by Sheriff's Office.


11:17 a.m.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office confirms the discovery is a small child. Utilities worker said a skull rolled out of the bag when he picked it up.


11:10 a.m.

Anthony family spokeswoman Michelle Bart said Cindy and George Anthony do not believe that the discovery is that of their granddaughter. The Anthonys are returning from California where they were on "Larry King Live." See story. The Anthonys are scheduled to arrive at Orlando International Airport in the next few hours. News 13 will attempt to meet with the Anthonys once they land to get their reaction.


11:07 a.m.

News 13 confirms the FBI is headed to the scene.


9:32 a.m.

An Orange County utilities worker finds human remains near the home of Caylee Anthony's grandparents.
