Parent Files Lawsuit In Fatal School Bus Crash
Thursday, November 06, 2008 3:25:59 PM
CITRA -- A Marion county woman who pulled her two kids from a burning school bus is now filing a lawsuit.
Last month, the bus caught fire after being struck by a tractor-trailer. The crash left Frances Schee, 13, dead.
Now Rhonda Arbuckle is suing the truck's driver, Reinaldo Andujar-Gonzalez, for negligence. Investigators said it didn't look like Reinaldo Gonzalez, 30, had been speeding along U.S. 301 in Citra when he hit the bus Tuesday, but said the driver was on the phone, didn't see the stopped bus and didn't hit the brakes. Read story.
Arbuckle's three children were on the bus when Gonzalez's truck slammed into the back of the bus and caused both vehicles to erupt in flames.
Arbuckle pulled her kids off the bus. When she tried to save Frances Schee, there was a sudden explosion.
Arbuckle is seeking damages for all three of her kids on the bus and herself.
