Man in dress attempts to rob Walmart bank (1, 12/1)

ORLANDO -- Orlando police are looking for a man they said attempted to rob a Walmart Sunday morning, wearing women's clothing.

It happened about 11:30 a.m. at the store on Kirkman Road.

Witnesses said the suspect threatened a clerk with a handgun and demanded money. On his way out, he reportedly fired two shots into the ceiling.

No one was hurt, but two people were taken to the hospital for treatment for high blood pressure.

The store was closed temporarily.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5 feet 6 inches and weighing about 150 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket over a gray and a white flower-print dress.

Orlando police said the man drove away from the Walmart in a stolen 1997 green Honda Accord with Florida tag number D8505Z.

Police said the suspect stole his getaway car from the Kirkman Road area of Orlando.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
