Monday, December 01, 2008 11:29:51 AM
COCOA -- Thousands have already gotten into the holiday spirit on the Space Coast. Despite warm weather they're ice skating outside in Cocoa.
About 2,000 people have already tried out the tent-covered ice rink.
Organizers said nearly 20,000 people could visit the attraction by January.
This week organizers expect some 500 people each day to lace up their skates.
Kids News 13 spoke with said they can't quite pin down what makes outdoor ice skating in Florida so fun.
"I don't know. It feels like you're gliding or kind of flying around. Probably like going around in circles and making little tricks and stuff,” said 10-year-old Melanie Temaat.
The Cocoa Village Ice Rink at Riverfront Park will last through Jan. 4.
