OPA-LOCKA, Fla. -- A South Florida city plans to honor the president-elect with his own street.

The city of Opa-locka, in Miami-Dade County, is expected to rename Perviz Avenue to Barack Obama Avenue on Presidents Day, Feb. 16, 2009.

The City Commission voted on the name change last week, and officials said the approval is expected to be finalized in December.

Opa-locka is a largely black community north of downtown Miami.
