George Anthony Interview 1, Part 6

Additional Information

ORLANDO -- The weekly vigil for Caylee Anthony was held Sunday night at Eastside Baptist Church.

Caylee's grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, greeted supporters as they came through the doors.

The Anthonys are holding out hope their granddaughter is still alive.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has charged their daughter, Casey Anthony with Caylee’s murder.

Video Interviews With Cindy, George Anthony Released

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has released hours of new interviews with the parents of Casey Anthony.

In the interviews from July 30 and 31, George Anthony appeared to be blindsided by everything that was happening. The interviews took place just a couple of weeks after Caylee Anthony was reported missing and Casey was taken into custody.

In the video, George Anthony seems to be finding out things about his daughter that he didn't know or hadn't seen before, including pictures, Casey's MySpace page and items on Cindy Anthony's computer.

He also appeared to be surprised at the lengths Casey was going to in order to ensure that other people would not see the pictures.

"I know my daughter deleted a lot of stuff off the computer. I don't know when she did it. I just know that things we used to have on there, shared photos and stuff of our granddaughter or even activity of hers, are just not here, but stuff is still saved on that computer, I understand all that," George said.

A brief look at the interviews with Cindy Anthony showed a much different person. Cindy defended her daughter, saying Casey would do anything to protect her daughter if she feels she is in danger. Cindy said that when she asked Casey why she wasn't talking to the police, Casey insinuated that their lives may be in danger if she said anything to police about where Caylee was.

The State Attorney's Office has not commented on the videos because they do not want a change of venue in the case.

NeJame Resigns, Family Thinks Mall Photo Could Be Caylee

George and Cindy Anthony have parted ways with high-profile attorney Mark NeJame. Both sides announced the resignation Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Anthonys told News 13's Melissa Crabtree that they believe Caylee was in Orlando this week.

The family released a photo to News 13 that was taken Sunday at an Orlando-area mall by two women with a cell phone camera.

The photo shows a girl playing, who they feel looks a lot like Caylee

It has been e-mailed to both the Orange County Sheriff's Office and FBI.

"There are just too many characteristics that stood out that it could be her,” said Michelle Bart, the family’s new spokesperson. “We're not saying that it is her. We're saying it's another tip that somebody in the community believed it was her."

George said at this point, he's going to start skipping the chain of command and aggressively align himself with anyone who can help the search effort for a live Caylee, whether it's law enforcement or the media.

“Is the system broken? Yes. That's evident every single day. Not only with my granddaughter but all these other children," said George.

The Kid Finder's command center on Goldenrod Road will remain open, except on Thanksgiving.

George plans to be there every day.

Dennis Milstead, the founder of Kid Finders Network, gave News 13 the following statement Thursday night:

“Regardless of what's out there, Kid Finder's Network is here for one reason and that is to bring Caylee Marie Anthony home and we shall stand strong and use every resource we have possible to make it happen."

Anthonys Comment On NeJame

The Anthonys said NeJame wasn't willing to push authorities hard enough to investigate tips or leads.

The decision to part ways with NeJame followed bounty hunter Leonard Padilla and Larry Garrison removing their support for Casey Anthony.

The Anthonys said law enforcement in the state of Florida refuses to help them -- from the sheriff's office all the way up to the attorney general.

In a statement on Thursday, NeJame said he can no longer represent the Anthonys because he has no value to them if they "choose to act and comment at will."

In the statement, NeJame did not directly state if he believed Caylee was still alive, but he did say George and Cindy "have every right to maintain their hope and faith that one of these 'sightings' will miraculously be the one that brings Caylee home to them."

NeJame stated that while he does have his own opinion on Caylee, the only person who knows the truth is the toddler's mother, Casey.
