ORLANDO -- FAMU and Bethune-Cookman University square off this Saturday in the hotly-anticipated Florida Classic football game.
But, with the tough times in the economy, both schools are still looking for big money and big victories on and off the field.
The big game and the famous battle of the bands are among the major attractions of the Florida Classic, but what the weekend is really about is about scholarships and getting more students into these historically black universities.
At the Blue Cross Blue Shield Corporate Scholarship Luncheon, they talked about why businesses need to invest in these schools.
Even though the country has been hit by hard economic times, a lot of people still come out and support the weekend.
"When you really think about an athletic event of this type in the bowl business, there are very few major college bowl games in post season that provide that much revenue to the two institutions, so it's really special what the two schools have built here," said Steve Hogan, executive director of Citrus Sports.
Last year the Florida Classic raised $1.6 million, and they are certain they can surpass that number this year.
The Battle of the Bands starts playing Friday night at 7 p.m. at Amway Arena.
The big game kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Citrus Bowl.
