Teacher Blames Hormone Imbalance For Sex With Minor

PORT ORANGE -- The former Volusia County teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student said she did it because of a hormone imbalance.
Cynthia Horvath, 45, faces 15 years in prison if convicted of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
According to documents filed in court, lawyers for the former Warner Christian Academy teacher said she may not have known what she was doing was wrong because she was suffering from a "severe hormone imbalance" along with other mental conditions.
Horvath has pleaded not guilty.
