HAINES CITY -- Although diesel fuel is at its lowest price in 14 months, there are fewer truckers on the road these days.
Many truck drivers said the lower gas prices help, but the real reason why they have parked their rigs has more to do with companies they serve.
With more and more businesses closing their doors, there are fewer goods to ship.
"That's what keeps us rolling freight,” said Randy Shelton from D&R Trucking. “Factories shut down, people lose their jobs. They're not making our product to put in our trailer to move up and down the roads."
According to the latest numbers from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, diesel fuel is at $2.94 across the nation, which is down 48 cents from last year.
