Additional Information

ORLANDO --Texas EquuSearch is calling off its efforts to find missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony after three days.

The search began on Saturday with 1,300 volunteers, but on Monday, the number of volunteers dropped significantly.

They searched a 25-square-mile area where they believe the toddler’s body could be.

Despite the decrease in help, team members are not giving up hope that the search could turn something up.

“We've got a pretty good group of volunteers going out initially and I'm optimistic,” said Gary Peterson from Texas EquuSearch. “I think the more ground we can cover with these people, the better off we are going to be.”

Texas EquuSearch has called off the search because it has cost them nearly $100,000. See previous story.

The group would like to see their efforts benefit more missing children across the country.

Bounty Hunter Conducts Separate Search

The search for Caylee has come to an end at Blanchard Park for the day, but not before a very angry George and Cindy Anthony confronted bounty hunter Leonard Padilla.

The Anthonys said Padilla, who is spearheading the search, is creating a pointless spectacle and he will not find their granddaughter in the park.

Nevertheless, the search continued with a team of two divers searching for any sign of little Caylee.

This search came about after a beaded cross was found on a tree at the park back in August by EquuSearch.

On Nov. 6, a member of Padilla's team, who lived with the Anthonys when Casey was first bonded out of jail, said she recognized those same beads in the Anthony home.

The search continues Tuesday morning.

Padilla has also planned a memorial service for Caylee that will take place at Blanchard Park, 2451 N. Dean Rd. starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Anthony family released a statement Tuesday morning criticizing Padilla. Read it here.
