ASTOR -- New numbers show more than 16,000 Floridians have now applied for FEMA aid, and many of them are in Lake County.

Up until about two weeks ago, residents said much of the Astor community was flooded.

However, floodwaters have since receded and dried up, leaving a lot of damage behind. Now people are left to mop up what they can.

The federal assistance agency has set up another shop in Astor, hoping to help many of these flood victims apply for federal aid.

"We're hoping that if you had any damage at all, you'll register for assistance," said Amanda Bicknell, a FEMA spokesperson.

FEMA will be stationed off Butler and Front streets at the Lake County Sheriff's Office substation.

The deadline to apply for federal aid is Nov. 10. To apply, go to FEMA.gov or call (800) 621-FEMA
