ORLANDO -- Orlando leaders are expected to vote on a plan Monday to extend health benefits to the partners of gay city employees.
Under the plan domestic partners will have to sign an affidavit declaring they are in a committed relationship.
Supporters said it's a big step for gay rights in Central Florida, especially since only a handful of cities in Florida have similar benefits.
Critics though are wary of the thousands extra it will cost the city to make the change and say it’s unfair the benefits would not be extended to unmarried straight couples as well.
