ORLANDO -- Orange County sheriff's investigators are looking for a street racer after they said a deputy was forced to shoot as the racer tried to run him down early Saturday.
The deputy was placed on leave as the investigation continues.
Investigators told News 13 the deputy was investigating illegal street racing around 2:30 a.m. Saturday just south of the Florida Mall.
As the deputy was approaching a vehicle, the driver revved his engine and sped toward him. The deputy was able to get out of the way, but was hit in the leg.
The deputy fired his gun at the car, but it is not yet known if the driver was shot.
