ORLANDO -- The lawyer for Casey Anthony says published reports that his client is getting letters from convicted murderer Scott Peterson are absolutely false.
Peterson was convicted of killing his wife, Laci, when she was eight months pregnant.
After the report of correspondence from Peterson to Anthony was published on OrlandoSentinel.com, officials checked into it and found that Anthony had never received a letter from Peterson.
Jail spokesman Allen Moore said: "All mail coming into the Orange County Jail System is screened for contraband, money, and other security-related issues. Policy forbids Orange County inmates from writing each other, but there is no prohibition against writing or receiving mail from inmates in other correctional institutions."
This is just another element to this story that has gained national and international attention since Caylee Anthony was reported missing last July.
Anthony faces first-degree murder charges in her daughter's disappearance as well as several check fraud charges. Her murder trial is set to begin on Jan. 5, 2009.
Anthony is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail. She is due back in court on Nov. 5 on the additional charges of check fraud.
