ORLANDO -- The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has named Casey Anthony as a suspect in the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee. However, no new charges have been filed.
According to Orange County Sheriff's deputy Angelo Nieves, Anthony has been uncooperative, has led investigators down the wrong path and lied to them. Nieves said Casey has not provided any credible information about the last time she saw Caylee, or where the 3-year-old was left.
Previously, Casey had been named a person of interest. Casey was arrested in July on child neglect charges and lying to authorities.
She has also been charged with check fraud in an unrelated case. On Wednesday, Jose Baez, Casey's attorney, entered a not guilty plea on those charges.
Police said investigators found evidence of human decomposition and strands of Caylee's hair in the trunk of Casey's car.
Authorities also have said they found traces of chloroform in Casey's car and Internet searches of chloroform Web sites on her computer.
Deputies said publicly they believe Caylee is no longer alive.
