ORLANDO -- An annual gay pride event in Orlando became a political rally Sunday.
Thousands gathered for the "Come Out with Pride" celebration at Lake Eola, with many coming to rally against Amendment 2.
Amendment 2 would narrowly define marriage as being between one man and one woman, which is something opponents said would hurt all Floridians.
"Floridians need to think about this amendment because it's not what everybody thinks it's about,” said Joe Saunders. “This is not about gay marriage. This is important because it would take away benefits that gay and straight unmarried couples enjoy all over the state."
A recent poll said 55 percent of Floridians support the amendment because they believe it would support the sanctity of marriage.
