DENNIS, Mass. – A wayward manatee is headed to Orlando after being rescued from the frigid waters off Cape Cod Saturday morning.
The juvenile male somehow wound up off the Massachusetts coast.
Wildlife officials decided to pull him out over concerns for his health in the cold Cape waters.
Manatees rarely stray beyond Florida and Georgia, and will stop feeding if they get too cold.
Animal welfare workers trapped the sea cow in a net, and hoisted him onto a barge. He was then moved by forklift to a truck for the 20 hour trip to SeaWorld.
