A Sanford mother of two is dead after being stabbed to death outside her own apartment.
Police said Charlene Amrhein, 46, went outside at the Charleston Club Apartments Sunday to smoke a cigarette when she was attacked and stabbed.
She was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital where she later died.
A short time later, police arrested Solim Kolassiba, 20. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
Police said he admitted to the crime because he was “mad.”
The victim’s neighbors are in shock, saying Amrhein was always willing to lend a helping hand.
"She watched little kids for the neighborhood. She was a good person," said one neighbor.
"I'm pretty new to this area, and nothing like this ever happened that I've known," said another neighbor. "It's gated, but I guess this can happen anywhere."
Amrhein leaves behind a husband and two children.
Kolassiba is now being held without bond at the Seminole County Jail.
