A health alert has been sent out to University of Central Florida students after a student who lives in Pegasus Landing was found to have the virus that could cause meningitis.
Orange County Public Health officials began getting a hold of anyone who could have come in contact with the student, while UCF health officials have been giving out antibiotics to those considered to be at risk.
School officials said the student attended just one class since coming down with the virus, and resident assistants at Pegasus Landing took the necessary steps to notify those who were in close contact with the student.
The UCF Health Center was prepared to answer any questions or concerns among students during their normal operating hours.
