Child Dead After Being Left In Hot Car

A 22-month-old baby is dead after being left in a hot car for hours.

The little girl's mother said she was not on her normal routine Tuesday morning and forgot the child was in the car when she went to work at Ocoee City Hall.

At approximately lunch time, the woman found the daughter in the vehicle passed out. She immediately brought her into City Hall to give her aid.

The girl was taken by ambulance to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital but, unfortunately, at the hospital she was pronounced dead.

The names of the girl and her mother have not been released.

Police said the incident is still under investigation, but would not say if the mother would face charges.

French Tourists Face Child Abuse Charges

Meanwhile, two French tourists are facing charges after leaving their small child inside a hot car while they went shopping in Orange County.

The Orlando Police Department said Gerard Sterne, 52, and Yacout Sterne, 45, parked their rental car in front of the Wal-Mart on Turkey Lake Road Tuesday night.

Witnesses saw a toddler strapped in the car seat in the back of the vehicle. Rescue crews used a slim-jim to pop the lock on the car.

The child was OK, but the parents were nowhere to be found. An hour after the child was found, the parents showed up.

Both were arrested and now face charges of child abuse. The child is now is the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
