More than 1,000 people marched silently around a Lake County hospital, taking a religious stand for one of their own.
It was all in support of a chaplain who was fired from the facility for using the word Jesus.
The supporters gathered for the two-mile walk in support of Danny Harvey, a former chaplain at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
Harvey was fired from the hospital last month, after using the word Jesus at the end of a prayer. He worked at the facility for nearly eight years.
A hospital spokesperson said Harvey had been told several times over the last several years that his prayers sparked complaints from patients. However, the chaplain refused to change his ways and now said he's working towards one cause.
"To break down all barriers of denominational walls, but just to stand for the common thread of Jesus," said Harvey.
Since his termination, Harvey said he has sought legal counsel, but is still in touch with hospital administration. He said he wrote a letter to the chairman of the hospital board, asking for his job back.
