Typically, if we were to report on someone being shocked at a power plant, it would be bad news.
For one worker at Orlando Utilities Commission, a little jolt ended up being a lifesaver.
A worker at the Stanton Energy plant began having chest pains Monday and then passed out. Co-workers quickly sprung into action, and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to jump start his heart until rescue crews arrived.
The AED's are becoming more and more common at businesses, which OUC said shows they’re worth it.
“It's a testament to their hard work, to the safety training they put in,” said Grant Heston from OUC. “You have a friend of yours that collapses, they jump in to respond, and it’s something we take very seriously at OUC."
OUC workers go through hours of training each year to be ready to help anyone in need.
