Orange County will now place signs at certain swimming spots, warning of the dangers of amoebas under the water.
The county announced Monday permanent signs will go up at Downey Park, Moss Park, Warren Park, and Kelly Park.
The move comes just days after the death of an 11-year-old Orange County boy.
Doctors said Will Sellars was swimming in Lake Jessamine when the amoeba got into his body through his nose, causing his brain to swell.
Lake Jessamine is not one of the lakes getting the signs. The health department said it can only put up warnings at public lakes, and not ones in private subdivisions.
Several counties have issued warnings about the amoebas that live under water, especially when the water temperature reaches 80 degrees.
