Mold problems always surface during summer months here in Central Florida with our daily afternoon thunderstorms and a new law is in effect to make sure inspectors are qualified to detect mold.
Starting July 1, people who go out to inspect mold must possess at least a two-year degree in microbiology, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational safety or a related field.
They are also required to have a year's worth of field experience.
If you find that a mold inspector does not have these qualifications, you can get your money back. However, some provisions do not take effect until July 1, 2010.
