Parents of school children at a Marion County elementary school want to know why a sheriff's deputy had an arsenal of weapons inside his trailer that was parked at their children's school campus.
The deputy's trailer was torched Monday. It was sitting on the grounds of the Ocala Springs Elementary School, yards away from the school itself.
Six guns were also stolen from the trailer before it was set on fire, leaving parents furious.
"That’s pretty scary, said Saul Saavedra, a parent. “You know, in schools there's supposed to be no firearms, no tobacco, no alcohol. None of that stuff. It's supposed to be a place that safe for our children to be there."
The school district says it's common for deputies to live in manufactured homes on rural school campuses.
Meantime, the deputy remains on duty while the case is being investigated.
