A Lake County detective is being honored for his work after he helped track down a missing Central Florida girl.

On Thursday, Detective Corporal James Vachon was recognized by Florida's Chapter of Foster Care Alumni of America for his role in finding Courtney Clark, 2.

Clark disappeared last fall when her biological mother took her from her foster mother. The child was discovered in a Wisconsin home back in June.

Vachon says he was just doing his job, and encourages other detectives in his line of work to keep at it.

"it's reinforced a lot of old lessons for me -- never overlook something if you think it's not going to pan out, follow up on everything, [and] don't give up," Cpl. Jim Vachon said.

The state of Wisconsin now has custody of Clark. Cpl. Vachon says she's being cared for.  Eventually, he says he would like to meet her.
