Orange Co. Passes Commuter Rail
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 7:30:29 PM
The first of many votes to turn the idea of commuter rail into a reality has passed.
Orange County Commissioners unanimously approved their segment of the rail Thursday afternoon.
Over the next two weeks, leaders in Volusia, Orlando, Seminole and Osceola will also vote on whether to support the route.
The $615 million deal would put 61 miles of commuter rail through the region.
The first phase of the project, scheduled to open in 2010, will link Debary and Orlando.
