Association Wants To Stop Red Light Camera Plan

Some people want to put the brakes on a plan to put up red light cameras up in Orange County.

Last week, the county passed a resolution that would set up red light cameras at two intersections.

Now, the Florida Civil Rights Association says the county -- along with Orlando and Apopka -- should take down the cameras because it is against state law to ticket drivers caught on red light cameras.

Right now, several municipalities get around that law by issuing tickets similar to parking tickets, instead of traffic citations.

The Civil Rights Association also said is not fair to assume the registered owner of the car is actually the one running the red light.
