Aviation authorities are now investigating the cause of a single engine plane crash at Orlando Sanford International Airport.
The crash happened after 12:30 p.m. Friday. The pilot was killed in the crash.
Fortunately, there were no other passengers onboard, and no one on the ground was threatened, because it crashed in the woods close to the runway.
The plane was a single engine fixed wing plane, called a Banner Scout because it pulls banners.
Airport officials are stunned.
"I’ve been here six years,” Diane Crews from the Sanford Airport Authority said. “There've been no fatalities or injuries since I’ve been here. This has been hard for all of us.”
Airport officials add that several agencies have been called to determine what caused the crash.
