Volusia County lifeguards made dozens of rip current rescues.
The beach patrol says it had to make 65 rescues on Sunday, with 123 total people being pulled from the water, and six near-drowings.
One man nearly drowned in an unguarded area of shoreline in Ormond by the Sea. He needed CPR and was rushed to Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial.
Lifeguards are urging swimmers to be extremely cautions, because rough currents are expected to be intense through the middle of the week and into Memorial Day weekend.
