Stolen Horse

A massive search is underway in DeLand for a stolen statue.

Light Years is the newest statue in the Horse Fever in Motion exhibit, which is a traveling public art project on display at the DeLand Museum of Art. Authorities said someone took the life-size statue from in front of the museum Friday and detectives are trying to figure out how someone was able to unbolt, lift and remove the giant statue.

“All we want is for the art work to be returned,” said CJ Drake of the Museum of Florida Art in DeLand. “That's the most important thing, so that it will inspire other people to come and view the exhibit we have here at the museum."

Light Years is owned by the Marion Cultural Alliance and was created by a cancer patient.
