Mini desserts are the top food trend of the year, according to the National Restaurant Association.

Boston Cream Pie and Red Velvet Cake might not bust your diet if they're served in bite-sized portions.
    
Chef Clifford Pleau designed several versions of the mini desserts for the Seasons 52 restaurant chain. Most are around 250 calories.
    
Many restaurants around the country are offering miniature versions of desserts filled with calories.
    
The secret here is that most are not substituting with low-fat ingredients, but instead they're offering smaller portions.

Virginia Governor Timothy Kaine recently said he would sign legislation requiring all sixth grade girls to be vaccinated against the sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer.
    
This action would make the state of Virginia the second state to mandate the vaccine for HPV or Human Papilloma Virus.
    
It would make Virginia the first state to mandate the action through legislation.
    
The requirement would go into effect for the 2009 school year.

If parents were to opt out, they would be required to review provided literature and then sign a form.
