A pet food manufacturer says it plans to compensate pet owners whose cats and dogs died or got sick from toxic food.
Last week, Menu Foods recalled some 95 brands of dog and cat food that was found to contain rat poison.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said that wheat gluten, used as protein filler, may have been contaminated.
The company says pet owners should keep their veterinary bills, and the cans or pouches of food that were recalled.
One pet owner, whose cat is being treated for kidney failure after eating Iams food, said her bills may reach $4,000.
