There's controversy over race, in a race for an Osceola County commission seat.
Claire Dempster is running for a seat in District Two. She has been accused of writing an e-mail saying, "We need an Anglo in that position, not a Hispanic."
Dempster is white.
Beulah Farquharson from the Buenaventura Lakes Community Association said, "To have one of them make a statement that we need an Anglo, must keep an Anglo, not a Hispanic, I take offense to that, we need someone who cares, no matter what color."
News 13 tried several times to contact Claire Dempster, she never returned our calls.
Dempster did tell the Spanish language newspaper El Nuevo Dia that she did not send the e-mail at all.
This year, a federal judge ruled Osceola County commissioners would be chosen by district, instead of the countywide elections they have held for years.
