Speedway Handicap
Friday, February 09, 2007 11:29:58 AM
The Florida Highway Patrol will be out in full force starting this weekend during Speedweeks, to crack down on illegal handicap parking.
FHP says it received numerous complaints of people unlawfully using disabled permits to park in and around the speedway.
Beginning this Saturday, and on various days through February 18th, troopers will set up checkpoints.
Anyone with handicapped tags will be double checked to make sure they're valid. People who break the law face a fine and even possible jail time.
