One New England state is now looking to offer the new cervical cancer vaccine for free.

Massachusetts girls between the ages of 9 and 18 would be eligible to get the vaccine under a new budget proposal.  The shots would not be mandatory.
     
Texas is the only state so far to make the cervical cancer vaccine mandatory for schoolgirls.

A new report by the American Psychological Association says many Iraq war soldiers, veterans and their families aren't getting needed psychological help because the military's mental health system is overwhelmed and understaffed.
     
The report calls for the immediate strengthening of the system. The Defense Department's mental health experts haven't read the report.

Smokers who use pills to try to kick the habit should keep trying, even if the drugs do not work at first.
    
A researcher at the Oregon Health and Science University says it can take several tries to fully wean themselves off tobacco.

The research team has been studying how well the drugs Chantix or Zyban work. They found that 24 percent of those taking Chantix were able to quit right away, versus 18 percent taking Zyban.
    
However, an additional 20 percent of those taking Chantix and 11 percent taking Zyban were able to quit if they kept trying through three months.
