With temperatures dipping at or below freezing tonight, Central Floridians are firing up the heat, but carbon monoxide can be a problem seeping into homes and campers when there is not proper ventilation.

Gas powered generators are a main culprit, that could especially be a problem with so many campers in Daytona Beach for SpeedWeeks.

Camper Mark Miller said, "Just to be safe, the camper is away from the generator."

Camper Kent Caudill said, "You don't want exhaust pointing at other campers, we set it diagonally so it shoots in the open."

Firefighters say the best way to keep safe is to install a carbon monoxide detector.
