An intruder was shot and killed Tuesday evening by the owner of the home he allegedly barged into, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Police in Palm Coast said a man entered a home on Pheasant Drive around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The person inside the home then grabbed a gun and shot at the intruder, police said.
A shootout ensued, and the suspect was eventually hit by a bullet, killing him.
Deputies said they believe the two man had a history.
"We don't think that it's a random act. We think there was some type of relationship," said Chief Deputy Rick Look. "Nice area, and you just got to figure out who your neighbors are."
There was no immediate word on the identities of the two men, or if the shooter who survived the ordeal would end up facing any charges.
