Police said a Clearwater man killed his ex-wife, their two young children and another woman before taking his own life Friday.
Oliver Bernsdorff, 36, filed from divorce in August.
The St. Petersburg Times reported Bernsdorff was deep in debt, and his ex-wife, Jennifer Davis, 27, was not paying her required child support.
Police said Bernsdorff went to his ex-wife's apartment in Largo Friday morning, and shot her and her roommate, Andrea Pisanello, to death.
Officers then went to Bernsdorff's home in Clearwater and found the bodies of the couple's two children.
Police later found Bernsdorff dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his van after it crashed south of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
The children were identified as Magnus, 2, Olivia Bernsdorff, 4. Their bodies were found in the bedroom. The cause of their deaths was not immediately released.
Jackie Brown, a domestic violence counselor, attended church with Bernsdorff and Davis.
Brown said she urged Davis to get an injunction against her ex-husband.
"Basically, she was an innocent person. She was young and unworldy. She married him, and he took control and ran the family like a drill sergeant. She was very much under his thumb," Brown said.
Brown said she last saw Davis Thursday night, hours before she was killed.
Largo police said they interviewed witnesses who claimed Bernsdorff was making threats recently, saying if he could not have his family together, he would simply kill them all.
