Red tide has continued its toll on the Space Coast.
A growing number of sea turtles have been killed.
Brevard's Sea Turtle Society said this year's number of turtle deaths far outpace deaths from a red tide bloom in 2002.
In just the past week, 14 juvenile green sea turtles washed ashore dead.
The society said the turtles were living in a near-shore reef and likely eating the red tide algae.
Most came ashore in the Satellite Beach area.
"I've been doing this for about nine years, and in that time, this is the worst I've seen it," said society spokesman David Hochberg.
The good news was that 21 other turtles washed ashore sick, but still alive.
All but one were surviving at a turtle hospital, and were said to be doing well.
