We are getting our first look at the new $480 million arena that is being planned for downtown Orlando.
The architecture firm HOK Sport released artist renderings of the new arena Monday night.
The arena will be located between Church Street, Hughey Avenue, South Street and Division Avenue.
The facility will feature a mix of metal and glass exterior with a 120-foot tall glass tower. That tower will house a Tower Club and observation deck and will be programmed with custom lighting that can change in color and intensity.
When it comes to sports, the new Orlando events center will be home to all sorts of activities.
The Orlando Magic will hold all of their home games in the new arena. They will be able to seat 1,000 more fans than the current Amway Arena and there will be some $5 Magic tickets.
Orlando's indoor arena football team, the Predators, will also play in the new arena. Nearly 2,000 more arena football fans will also be able to pack the facility.
The building team will break ground in the summer of 2008. The actual construction will begin that fall.
Construction will be complete and the opening event will be held in the fall of 2010.
