Ground Beef Recalled Again
Monday, May 18, 2009 4:17:04 PM
For the second time in a month, the U.S. Agriculture Department said a meat company is voluntarily recalling more than 1 million pounds of ground beef because it may be contaminated with E. coli.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service said the affected products were produced at a Cargill Meat Solutions plant in Pennsylvania. The meat was then distributed to retailers nationwide.
The Cargill recall represents various weights and types of ground beef with a "use by-or freeze by" date between Oct. 19 and Nov. 3.
No one has gotten sick from the meat. But health officials said people should look in their freezers and either return the packages or throw them away.
