Near-record gas prices did not keep people off the roads as the Thanksgiving holiday approached.
AAA expected 31 million Americans would travel 50 miles or more from home during Thanksgiving weekend.
More than 2.2 million people were expected to hit the roads in Florida, and those motorists will pay about 90 cents per gallon more for gas than they did a year ago.
The average price for regular unleaded in Florida was $3.15 per gallon Sunday morning, and that price was expected to go up another 10 cents by December. The price per gallon one year ago was $2.25.
The national average Sunday morning was $3.10 per gallon.
Gas prices have traditionally fallen after the summer demand slows down, but oil prices flirting with $100 a barrel and low fuel stockpiles have reversed that trend this year.
