Forty days of praying to end the violence in Orlando's Parramore district came to an end Sunday.
"Operation Armor All" began last month. Since, then Orlando police chaplains and volunteers from Central Florida churches held daily prayer services in Parramore Heritage Park.
The prayer gathering was organized by the Orlando Police Department.
The goal is to reduce crime in Orlando by taking God's word outside of churches and onto the streets.
"We want to come to the street and bring the love and the compassion of our lord, Jesus Christ, to the community," said Angel Torres, an Orlando Police Department chaplain.
"I want to live in a city that lives up to its name before God's eyes, the City Beautiful, and right now, Orlando's not that because of the crime level," said Caleb Aponte.
"Everyday we wake up, there's a change, but the change we're looking for is not here yet," said Timothy Robinson.
Orlando police are hoping this initiative will be the start of a growing trend.
Police chaplains told News 13 they plan to hold similar events in other parts of Orlando, such as Pine Hills.
