South Lake Hospital in Clermont opened its doors seven years ago. However, the facility is now gearing up for some big changes
Over the next few years, the hospital plans to expand its facility and services to accommodate the area's rapid development.
Under the new expansion plan, the hospital’s total bed count is expected to triple to approximately 300.
The facility is also looking to enhance its services.
"We'll also be expanding our lab department, diagnostic imaging and increasing insularly departments for the community," said Sheri Olson, a hospital spokesperson.
Last year, more than 40,000 emergency patients looked to South Lake for medical attention. As the county grows, officials said they expect that number to go much higher.
Construction is expected to start as early as 2008.
